Tomorrow I’m going to be at the Colorado State Capitol to support the joint resolution that will create Maternal Mental Health Week in Colorado. I will stand with my family, my doctors & caregivers, my legislators, and my community to advocate for all women experiencing prenatal or postpartum mental illness. We are strongest when we take care of each other. Thank you to the legislators who support this endeavor, Representative Dafna Michaelson Jenet & Senator Dominick Moreno.

The rest of this week I plan to share my story and journey through postpartum depression & anxiety. I’ve gone on a search for photos from that period, and some of them are deceptively happy. This photo was taken August 8, 2015, less than a month after my hospitalization for suicidal ideation. Depression & anxiety look like this. They look like me.

Looks like me.

For The short time I have known you, you have been the silent type of fighter. I am glad to see you finding your voice! Stay strong and know you are loved an not alone.
